Aims & Scope

Faculty of Social Sciences and Leisure Management, under the guidance of the Research and Enterprise Office, Centre for Research and Innovation in Tourism and School of Hospitality, Tourism and Events of Taylor’s University is publishing a bi-annual, peer reviewed, multi-disciplinary journal.

The aim of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism is to promote and enhance research development and innovation in the field of hospitality and tourism. The journal seeks to provide an international platform for hospitality and tourism educators, postgraduate students and researchers, to debate and disseminate research findings, facilitate the discussion of new research areas and techniques, and highlight best practices for industry practitioners. The articles published in the journal will cover a multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approach. Asia-Pacific Journal of Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism (APJIHT) invites submissions from a wide range of disciplines and fields, which contribute to enhancing research development and innovation in the field of tourism and hospitality, including contributions from the perspectives such as consumer behaviour, service management, sustainable development goals and social aspects of hospitality and tourism. APJIHT offers value to those researching innovative approaches and innovation in the field of tourism and hospitality through the publication of double-blind peer-reviewed theoretical and empirical research.


Article Categories

The Editor encourages articles based on theoretical arguments, empirical findings, case studies, and/or methodological developments. Qualitative, quantitative and mixed methodology submissions are all welcome. Articles published in APJIHT are on the basis of originality, importance and significant contribution to knowledge and practice in social science, science, the public, and policy making.


APJIHT publishes three types of papers:

Full-length papers (both empirical and conceptual)

Research notes (both empirical and conceptual)

Industry papers (both empirical and conceptual)

Papers published in APJIHT are double-blinded peer-reviewed.

The key audiences and beneficiaries of this journal include but not limited to:

Academics, postgraduate students, and researchers working in the field of hospitality and tourism.

Practitioners working in a wide range of sub-disciplines / related industries of hospitality and tourism.

Publication Ethics

In order to maintain a journal of the highest quality, the principles of Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement is strictly adhered to. All articles not in accordance with these standards will be removed from the publication if malpractice is discovered at any time even after the publication.

APJIHT checks all papers in a double-blind peer review process. We also may check for plagiarism and falsification (manipulation of existing research data, tables, or images) and improper use of humans or animals in the research process when felt necessary. APJIHT reserves the right to use plagiarism detecting software to screen submitted papers at any times.

Authors and Authors' Responsibilities:

Asia-Pacific Journal of Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism (APJIHT) is a peer reviewed international journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. Authors must ensure that they have written original works. In addition they must ensure that the manuscript has not been issued elsewhere. Any work or words of other authors, contributors, or sources (including online sites) should be appropriately credited and referenced. Authors are also responsible for language editing before submitting the article. Authors submitting their works to the journal for publication as original articles confirm that the submitted works represent their authors' contributions and have not been copied or plagiarized in whole or in part from other works without clearly citing. All authors should disclose financial or other conflict of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript (financial support for the project should be disclosed). When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper. An author agrees to the license agreement before submitting the article.

Peer-review Process:

All articles are reviewed (double blind) by at least two academic experts in the particular field of the submitted paper prior to acceptance. A minimum of 2-3 months is envisaged for the completion of the blind review process. Reminders will be sent to avoid late reviews.

Editors must ensure a fair double-blind peer-review of the submitted articles for publication. They will strive to prevent any conflict of interests between the author and editorial and review personnel. Editors will also ensure that all the information related to submitted manuscripts is kept as confidential before publishing. Editor-in-Chief will coordinate the work of the editors.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on content without regard to ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship, religious belief or political philosophy of the authors. They must ensure that all the information related to submitted manuscripts is kept as confidential and must report to the Editor-in-Chief if they are aware of copyright infringement and plagiarism on the author’s side. They must evaluate the submitted works objectively as well as present clearly their opinions on the works in a clear way in the review form. Reviewers who feel unqualified to review a submitted article or know that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the Editor-in-Chief and excuse themselves from the review process.

Copyright policy:

Upon acceptance of an article, Authors will be asked to transfer copyright. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information. A notification will be sent to the corresponding Author confirming receipt of the manuscript. If excerpts from other copyrighted works are included, the Author(s) must obtain written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) in the article.

Asia-Pacific Journal of Innovation in Hospitality and Tourism (APJIHT) invites submissions from a wide range of disciplines and fields, which contribute to enhancing research development and innovation in the field of hospitality and tourism, including contributions from the perspectives such as consumer behaviour, service management, sustainable development goals and social aspects of tourism and hospitality. APJIHT offers value to those researching innovative approaches and innovation in the field of tourism and hospitality through the publication of double-blind peer-reviewed theoretical and empirical research. The editor encourages articles based on theoretical arguments, empirical findings, case studies, and/or methodological developments. Qualitative, quantitative and mixed methodology submissions are all welcome. Papers published in APJIHT are double-blinded peer-reviewed.

Papers are accepted from public and private institutions of higher education, the industry, non-governmental organizations, research centres and associations.

Manuscript Submission

Manuscript for Submission

Manuscripts submitted to APJIHT should be original contributions and should not have been previously published nor under consideration for publication elsewhere. Individual and multiple authors are welcome to contribute.

All manuscripts are refereed through a blind review process by at least two academic experts in the particular field of the submitted paper(s) prior to acceptance. All the submitted manuscripts will go through plagiarism test. The entire review process averages 5-6 months.

Manuscripts must be written in English.

The abstract should summarize the key points of the paper without exceeding 300 words and, with a maximum of 6 keywords that define the subject matter.

Research articles including references should normally not exceed 7,000 words, research notes should not exceed 2,500 words and book reviews should not exceed 1,500 words.

All contributions should follow the format and style described in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA, 7th edition).

All manuscripts should be typed in MS WORD format, double-spaced with one-inch margins and using 12-point Times New Roman font (exception of tables 10-point Times New Roman).

Manuscripts should include the following major sections: title page, abstract, main body and references. The title page is the first page and should contain the title of the paper, name of author(s) or authors’ names, institutional affiliation and present position.

The main body or text should be divided into headings and subheadings. Main headings should be centered on the page and subheadings placed at the left margin.

All tables and figures should be prepared on separate pages and grouped together at the end of the manuscript, and the place where they are to be included must be clearly marked in the text (e.g. Insert Figure 1 here). Tables and figures (300dpi) should be clearly labeled, in the format and style described in APA (6th edition) and suitable for direct reproduction.

References should follow the format and style described in APA (6th edition).

Author(s) name should not appear anywhere except on the cover page of only main copy of the manuscript (to preserve anonymity during the blind review process).

Soft copy of the manuscript in the form of MS WORD file attachment must be submitted through review system.

The journal does not charge for submission, processing or publication of manuscripts.
