Abstract: This study explores the issues, challenges, and opportunities associated with implementing green events in the Philippine Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. Using a qualitative research design, a focus group discussion was conducted with key stakeholders representing government, industry associations, venues, and the hospitality sector. Thematic analysis revealed three major challenges: the absence of sector-specific green event policies, uneven stakeholder engagement, and operational constraints, including limited access to sustainable suppliers and technical expertise. Despite these barriers, significant opportunities were identified, including existing environmental legislation, ASEAN-aligned standards, MICE-ready venues with sustainability credentials, and increasing market awareness among younger generations. The findings highlight the need for coordinated governance frameworks, capacity-building initiatives, and stakeholder collaboration to mainstream green practices. This study contributes to the emerging discourse on sustainable event management in developing economies and provides practical and theoretical insights for advancing green MICE initiatives in the Philippines.
